Log your meals in a calorie tracker

The numbers come from each recipe's nutrition. If a recipe shows no nutrition yet, open it and choose Calculate nutrition first.

    MyFitnessPal and Cronometer

    1. Open the recipe and choose the flame button, Log in a calorie tracker.
    2. Copy the recipe link.
    3. MyFitnessPal: on the website, open Recipes, import a recipe from the web and paste the link. Cronometer: import a recipe from a website (a Cronometer Gold feature) and paste the link.
    4. Log the servings you ate. The tracker saves the recipe for next time.

Anyone with the link can see that recipe's ingredients and nutrition, and nothing else from your household. Archiving or deleting the recipe turns the link off.

Lose It! and Apple Health (iPhone Shortcut)

The Shortcut reads the day's planned meals and writes each one's calories, protein, carbs and fat to Apple Health. Lose It! picks up food from Apple Health once it's allowed to read Dietary Energy.

    1. In The Meal Plan Vault, go to Settings → Connections → API access and create a read-only token.
    2. In the Shortcuts app, create a shortcut and add Format Date with Current Date, custom format yyyy-MM-dd.
    3. Add Get Contents of URL with the address below, method POST, header Authorization set to Bearer followed by your token, and a JSON body with date set to the formatted date. To log one meal only, add meal_types as an array, for example lunch.https://www.mealplanvault.com/api/agent/v1/tools/get_day_nutrition
    4. Add Get Dictionary Value for meals, then Repeat with Each.
    5. Inside the repeat, get nutrition_per_serving, then add Log Health Sample four times: Dietary Energy from calories, Protein from protein_g, Carbohydrates from carbs_g and Total Fat from fat_g.
    6. In Lose It!, open its Apple Health settings and allow it to read Dietary Energy.

Run it after dinner, or add an automation to run it every evening. Meals without nutrition are skipped.

    Ask your AI assistant

If Claude or ChatGPT is connected to The Meal Plan Vault and to your tracker, ask it: “Log today's lunch in my tracker.” It reads the meal's calories and protein from your plan and logs them for you.
